All what time?

Anyone that has been a stay at home parent knows how this goes….

  • Friend: “Are the kids going to school this year?”
  • Me: “Yes, they are starting Kindergarten.”
  • Friend: “What are you going to do with all the new free time?”

The Triplets started Kindergarten a week ago and I seem to now have less “free time” than I did before.  There are some issues that directly affect that… sleep, if the CFO takes them to school (no bus), kindergarten is a half day.

I do, of course, not blame anyone for the time issue other than myself.  I choose to cook them breakfast instead of doing cold cereal, the Triplets are in private school, I take them shopping, we have soccer, I am studying for a new job, and the list goes on.  But I CHOOSE to do this, no one is making me.  No whining! 🙂

I probably use to ask people the same thing so I am not judging the people that ask, I just think it is funny.  Like when people think that being the stay at home parent is easy.  I guess it is if “working from 6am (or earlier) till 9pm (or later) 365 days a year is easy.  OK, the in-laws keep them for about 10 days so it is really only 355 days.  Also, you job follows you on most if not all vacations.  You think dealing working remotely with a VPN is challenging try being the stay at home parent when you are not at home:)

I say all this to remind us all to laugh.  I thank God for these are my “problems” and most people would trade with me.

There’s a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.
