How to make being a SAHD work for you

A post on AtHomeDad.org got me thinking of how being a SAHD can work for you.   In other words you can make people laugh, wonder and feel just a bit jealous.

One way is to be the guy who has EVERYTHING!  First you need a cool bag.  I like the Lowe Alpine Airzone Active 28 but I also like the bag another SAHD recommended, the Maxpedition Colossus Versipack.  Next, you need to fill it up like you are the supply guy and medic for your crew.  My next post will be an update on what I carry on me, in my bag and in the van.

The post I saw on AtHomeDad.org that got me thinking about how “cool” it is to be a SAHD linked to an article listing some “You might be a stay at home Dad” likes, ala Jeff Foxworthy.  I had a few I would have added.

  • If your kids tell each other to “suck it up” when one whines…
  • If your diaper bag looks more like a “go bag”…
  • If your kids know the military hand signals for “rally point” and “freeze,” and know what it means to be “Oscar Mike”…

I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific.

  1. Thanks for the idea. I gave you my first ever SAHD award. It is posted on my sight. God bless. I linked you there as well.

  2. I loved the SAHD “ala Foxworthy isms” … I have the Maxpedition Falcon II and love it. Is it wrong if you keep a few extra .223 mags and quick clot in the SAHD bag? HA HA
Five things a boy should learn from his father: Love the Lord, how to start a fire, shoot a gun, H2H fighting, and hunt… of course there are a lot more but these are a must.
