Judging others

I received a question to a post I put on FaceBook of how I define “judging others.”  While I don’t do it much these days I do still enjoy challenging myself intellectually.  So I said to myself “self, how do we define judging others?”  I hear teamwork is better so I use “we.” 🙂

I decided that the best definition I can settle on is someone saying who will or will not go to heaven.  I don’t like the act of throwing Bible verses out to vilify people but I would not put that in the “judging” category.  The main reason I don’t like the act of throwing Bible verses at people is that you can usually argue all three sides of any issue with Bible verses.  Take for instance people saying that someone’s behavior, lifestyle, etc… will not get them  into Heaven?  Remember the ten commandments?  If so, then does working on the Sabbath keep you out of Heaven?  Or how about coveting what others have?  If either preclude someone from being with God then I am officially hosed!

So it seems to me I have a choice…. to try and live under the law or out of God’s Grace for us through Jesus Christ.  Hmmmm, let’s see…. I’ll take option #2 please.  For those who take option #1…. let me know how that works out for you. 🙂  I’m just sayin’…..

My future is righteousness.

Religion is a strange, wonderful thing. More crimes have been committed in the name of righteousness than any other notion.
